Jimmer Fredette "Excited" To Begin New Journey With Phoenix Suns

Fredette was one the best scorers in college basketball a few years ago.

The Phoenix Suns made a surprising move yesterday when they announced the signing Jimmer Fredette to a two-year deal. This news was surprising because while Fredette was a great college player, he hadn’t been an effective role player in the NBA. However, during a stint in China, Fredette showed f his scoring prowess, even dropping 73 points in a game. It was this ability to score that made the Suns want to pursue him and give him a second chance in the league.

The former National College Player the Year took to Instagram today to express just how excited he is about getting the opportunity to play with the Suns, who are currently last place in the Western Conference with a record 17-56. The former BYU star will be joining a team full young talent who will only get better considering they will have a high draft pick.

“It’s ficial! Excited to be the newest member the @suns!” Fredette wrote. “Thanks to all who have supported me throughout these last 3 years in China! And thanks to the Suns organization for the opportunity! Time to get to work!”

While the deal is for two years, according to Shams Charania The Athletic, the Suns have a team option on the second season.
