Ice T Says A New Body Count Album Is "In Progress"


Ice T teases new heavy metal album

Ice T recently announced that his metal band Body Count would be making a return, sending out a clip teasing the follow-up album to 2017’s Bloodlust.

“Headed back to the Studio today,” Ice penned in a caption. “New BodyCount album in progress. First two songs locked. Hard as F!! We’re going in. #Carnivore @BodyCountBand.”

HipHopDXreports that the title the new project has been confirmed to be “Carnivore.”  

Body Count first appeared in 1990, a venture between Ice T and guitarist Ernie C at the time. Since its inception, the group has become pretty well-versed in ruffling feathers. Notably, stirring controversy with their “Cop Killer” track, prompting responses from the likes President George H.W. Bush at the time.

The heavy metal band made significant waves with Bloodlust with a politically-charged track such as “No Lives Matter” and “Black Hoodie,” tackling race relations and police brutality.

 “Give me a fucking break,” Ice famously uttered at the beginning the video for the latter. “I’ve been talking about this shit for over 20 years. And now you can kill a motherfucker just because how he’s dressed. Are you fucking serious?”

The track earned the band a nomination for Best Metal Performance at the 60th Annual Grammys, losing out to Mastodon’s “Sultan’s Curse.”
