Hip Hop Week In Review: R. Kelly's "Admission" & Lauryn Hill's Cancellation

HipHopDX – This week in Hip Hop, R. Kelly released a 19-minute song titled “I Admit” as an attempt to defend himself against sexual misconduct accusations. Also, 50 Cent engaged in a war words with Floyd Mayweather on Instagram and Lauryn Hill canceled a portion her tour.

R. Kelly Drops “I Admit”

R. Kelly admitted to making a “few mistakes” in a 19-minute song titled “I Admit.” He didn’t own up to any the most damning allegations though, defending himself against sex cult and pedophilia accusations.

Needless to say, Twitter wasn’t too impressed and most people wanted their 19 minutes back. Kelly’s ex-wife didn’t appreciate the ambitious song either and took it a step further by releasing a “remix” to the track.

50 Cent & Floyd Mayweather Battle On Social Media

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather have been exposing each other’s personal business on Instagram, trading heated words on social media.

Mayweather accused 50 being a snitch while also claiming he’s a bad father. The G-Unit boss fired back by bringing up the boxer’s history domestic violence.

Lauryn Hill Cancels Multiple Tour Dates

A few The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary Tour dates have been canceled, adding more drama to Ms. Hill’s rocky history with live shows.

The move comes after she left fans at a Toronto show waiting for nearly an hour ahead her 45-minute set.

The canceled shows include dates in Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Raleigh, St. Petersburg, Florida. Her Miami show, originally scheduled for July 31, was postponed to October 15.

RZA Talks “Cut Throat City” Film & Explains Why Wu-Tang Is Forever

RZA is slated to release his film Cut Throat City in 2019. In a conversation with HipHopDX, he explained how easy it was to relate to the movie’s main characters, who decide to pull f a major heist after Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans.

“I felt like what these four guys was going through was similar to what we go through in my neighborhood,” he told DX. “Just being men who, based on environment and unfortunate conditions, sometimes is pushed to do acts desperation.”

Is Chika The God Female MC We’ve Been Searching For?

DX’s Kyle Eustice explored the idea viral rapper Chika being a “God” female MC in a new editorial.

“So, to all those complaining that dope female MCs don’t exist anymore — think again,” she opined. “Chika is a prime example the talent floating around out there and it’s only a matter time before she’s thrust into the conversation more frequently — and rightfully so.”
