Following the June 18 shooting death XXXTENTACION, his album sales continue to rise. The 20-year-old’s last album, ?, has climbed another spot to hit the Billboard 200 chart at #2 for the week ending June 28. Last week, it made a leap from #24 to #3 in the wake his passing. His inaugural album, 17, also made a jump.
Meanwhile, Teyana Taylor’s Keep That Same Energy — produced by Kanye West — made its entrance at #17, while Lecrae and Zaytoven’s joint project Let The Trap Say Amen debuted at #49.
Elsewhere on the chart, Nas’ Nasir took a significant dive to wind up in the #36 slot and Jay Rock’s Redemption falls 45 percent in its second week to land at #25.
X Continues To Rise
X was laid to rest over the weekend but that hasn’t stopped his albums from being heard. With 85,538 total album equivalent units, 5,100 in pure album sales and a streaming count 111,620,906, the Florida-bred rapper’s sophomore album, ?, jumped another spot to land at #2 this week. It initially debuted at #1 back in March.
All X’s albums, including 2017’s Revenge mixtape, saw a leap in chart position. The “Look At Me!” artist’s debut album, 17, pulled in 45,075 total album equivalent units, 1,919 pure album sales and a streaming count 61,604,179 to land at #5, up from #7 last week.
X was killed earlier this month outside RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida in what his lawyer believes was a “random robbery.”
Needs More Energy
Despite the grand rollout for Teyana Taylor’s new album, Keep That Same Energy (K.T.S.E.), the G.O.O.D. Music artist couldn’t crack the Top 10. With 23,074 total album equivalent units, 7,435 pure album sales and a streaming count 22,451,543, K.T.S.E. hit the chart at #17.
Although it was supposedly revealed during a listening party on June 21 Yeezy’s Twitter account, Taylor admitted the “completed” version the album isn’t actually out.
“Nasir” Takes A Mighty Plunge
Nas’ highly anticipated album Nasir debuted on the chart at #5 last week but now, it’s taken an 81 percent dive. With 14,374 total album equivalent units, 5,225 pure album sales and a streaming count 13,089,545, Nasir ended up at #36.
The Kanye West-produced project is the Hip Hop luminary’s first album since 2012’s Life Is Good, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its initial release. It sold 149,000 copies in its opening week and marked Nas’ final album for Def Jam.
