New York, NY –
Hours before the release his new album Family Ties, Fat Joe hosted a special album preview listening at the Roc Nation fices in New York City.
One the album standouts was the highly anticipated Eminem and Mary J. Blige collaboration “Lord Above” which Joe has been talking about for weeks now. The Eminem verse which Joe says is “the most disrespectful verse” lives up to its big claims as Em rips through the smooth Dre-produced beat.

The highlight the track comes when Em mentions his long-time foes Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon again rapping, “Think I just got a light bulb, something I’d like to mention/this is just on the side note, word to the Terror Squad Joe.” Em continues on with the fiery verse, “I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note/But that other dude’s whipped, that pussy got him neutered/Tryna tell him his chicks a nut ‘fore he got his jewels clipped. Almost got my caboose kicked/fool print you not gon do shit/I let her chop my balls f too before I lost to you, Nick.”
Nick Cannon’s beef with Eminem has been a back and forth rollercoaster for years now. Em has dissed him countless times like on “The Warning” in 2009 and Nick has voiced his opinions on Slim Shady in several interviews like the August 2019 sitdown with VladTV where he called Em “Elvis on crack” and revealed he never really was into his music growing up.
Back in September, Nick Cannon overtly told Eminem “I’ll whoop your ass” during an appearance on T.I.’s ExpediTIously podcast.
Family Ties drops on Friday (December 6) and features Remy Ma, Bryson Tiller, Ty Dolla Sign and more.
