#DXCLUSIVE: Quavo Talks Martell Partnership, Migos 2020 & Their Greatest Song

The trajectory for all three Migos members is strong these days, as the Atlanta trio rap stars are still riding the wave spurned by the blitz music they released in 2018.

During their hiatus, fans may have spotted Quavo being extra vigilant for the Martell Blue Swift “Make Your Statement” campaign.

It’s a primary goal the trusted cognac brand to “support, inspire and rally those who are pushing boundaries and plowing uncharted paths amidst the pursuit their passions.”

While catching up with HipHopDX, Quavo discussed his viral Netflix Rhythm + Flow guest spot (which is also HipHopDX’s top TV show 2019), the “Make Your Statement” campaign and the most classic classic Migos songs.

HipHopDX: Let’s hear your best pitch trying to convince someone to switch from brown to blue.

Quavo: For me, it’s all about making a statement, being a trendsetter, and leading the way. If you’re staying true to yourself and are being unapologetic about following your dream, then Martell Blue Swift is for you. I’ve partnered with Martell because we’re both leaders in our respective categories who are constantly changing the game, and have unapologetically risen to the top.

HipHopDX: Did you have Martell in your cup when you crushed that rapper’s dreams on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow?

Quavo: Oh, for sure. We put the brown down. Now we drink Blue. I will say this though, I’m not here to crush people’s dreams, I was just being honest in my critique his performance.

HipHopDX: With all three Migos rippin’ and runnin’, how do you guys find time to record songs? Is it in pieces?

Quavo: We all have hectic schedules, but we’re always working and recording. Whenever we’re together, we hit the studio to record and bounce ideas f each other. It’s always collaborative when the three us get together.

HipHopDX: What’s the best Migos song in your opinion? The one where all three y’all went f.

Quavo: “Top Down on da NAWF” bout our home from Culture II]. This was a very personal song to the group and we discussed a lot personal issues. The NAWF made us who we are today and we love it there.

HipHopDX: I assume plenty new music in 2020?

Quavo: I can’t give too much away but like I mentioned, I’m always working and recording, thinking about what’s next. All I can say is stay tuned. We’ve got some exciting things coming up on the music side, as well as what I’m doing with Martell. You can always expect me to stay unapologetic and continue to change the game.
