Young Money Reunion concert is postponed after Drake tests positive for COVID-19.
Originally scheduled for August 1 at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage, the much-anticipated Young Money reunion performance has been postponed. The event was designed to serve as the grand finale to Drake’s October World Weekend event, but the rapper announced testing positive for COVID-19.
“I am truly devastated to say that I tested positive for Covid, and the Young Money Reunion show scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled to the SOONEST date possible,” Drake said in his Instagram post. “I will keep the city posted and share the new date whenever we have it locked. Until then, I hope everyone stays safe and healthy. I love you all.”
The three-day weekend of shows started Thursday as an appetizer to the rapper’s upcoming OVO Fest.
The “All Canadian North Stars” event kicked off at Drake’s History nightclub with appearances from Keshia Chante, Choclair, Jully Black, Nelly Furtado, and other special guests. Friday’s event featured headliners Lil Baby and Chris Brown. The event’s final day was intended to conclude with a highly-anticipated show from Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj — The Big Three, reuniting with their Young Money crew.
“I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together,” Drake continued. “The moment I test negative, I will give you everything I got on stage (except the Covid).”
Drake is one of many artists recently under scrutiny from environmentalists for the amount of costly CO2 emissions from his private jet. The rapper’s $200 million Boeing 767, “Air Drake,” reportedly took a 14-minute flight from Toronto to Hamilton in Ontario. Drake claimed on Instagram that he wasn’t actually on the flight and that it was a routine trip required to return the aircraft for regular maintenance.
