Drake is facing legal action from a woman who claims that she sustained a brain injury after a beer bottle was hurled at her head during his concert.
Amanda Giovacco, a 24-year-old Staten Island woman, has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court, stemming from the incident, which occurred on Aug. 8, 2016. In her suit, she alleges that Madison Square Garden, Live Nation, a food vendor, and Drake were negligent in allowing a crowd to get raucous enough that someone would toss a glass bottle at her head.
“Amanda Giovacco, was violently struck by a beer bottle that was thrown while attending the Drake concert, was maliciously and without just cause provocation, subjected to a battery,” read the court papers, obtained by Page Six.
She claims that the defendants didn’t have adequate security at the venue and negligently served “excessive amounts alcohol” to concertgoers in glass bottles instead plastic cups. The court documents also allege that the defendants failed to control the “rowdy” crowd and that “Drake has a history violence at his concerts.”
Giovacco claims that she “sustained a traumatic brain injury and seizures,” both which are, “preventing her from attending medical school.”
Her lawyer, Joseph Napoli, said, “Madison Square Garden, the promoter and Drake should have prevented bottles from coming in or circulating within the building and being thrown at a concert.”
Napoli added, “Her future is now precarious.”
