A Diana Ross and Tame Impala collaboration is coming on the ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ soundtrack.
Decca Records revealed the new original motion picture soundtrack for the upcoming animated film. It will release on July 1 and is set in the 1970s. It tells the origin story of Gru first met his iconic Minions.
The soundtrack was produced by 2022 Grammy Producer of the Year Jack Antonoff. Diana Ross featuring Tame Impala, leads the way with the first single, “Turn Up the Sunshine.”
The soundtrack celebrates a wide range of funk, disco, and soul classics with some new versions of the biggest hits of the 1970s. The soundtrack will be available to stream digitally and on a three-panel CD digipack, standard black double LP, yellow & blue spattered double LP, yellow cassette, and a limited-edition picture disc.

Many of the tracks are classics from the ’70s that have been reimagined for a new audience. Phoebe Bridgers does an interpretation of the 1972 single, “Goodbye to Love,” while St. Vincent has a new take on the Lipps Inc classic, “Funkytown.”
