Hunt visiting local high school teams: ‘Don’t make the same mistake I made.’
Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt has lowkey been meeting with students from Cleveland City Schools this f-season to speak about his mistakes. According to The News-Herald, Hunt and the Browns are keeping the visits on the down low because he doesn’t want any attention to distract from his message.
During an appearance on 92.3 The Fan earlier this week, Cleveland Browns GM John Dorsey explained how Hunt has been visiting kids in local schools on his down time in hopes that they’ll learn from his f-field issues.
Per The News-Herald:
“We all know he’s remorseful,” Dorsey said during an interview with Bull and Fox on 92.3 The Fan. “We’ve said this all along: You have to earn the right to be a member this organization. There are no guarantees.
“I like the way he’s attacking this thing day in and day out. I applaud him for what he’s doing on the field and how hard he’s working. But what people don’t realize is once he’s f the field, he’s doing things unannounced. He’s actually going out and talking to young kids and working behind the scenes to teach young kids, ‘Don’t make the same mistake I made.’ ”
Hunt will serve an eight game suspension to start the 2019-20 season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Browns signed Hunt on February 11, several months after the 23-year old running back was released by the Kansas City Chiefs when video footage him pushing and kicking a woman surfaced.
Cleveland’s 2019 season begins at home on September 8 against the Tennessee Titans, followed by a Monday night matchup against the Jets at MetLife Stadium. The Browns have a Bye in Week 7, meaning Hunt will be eligible to return for their Week 10 home game vs the Buffalo Bills.
