ABC recently announced ( Deadline) the renewal the hit television series, Black-ish, for a sixth season. The sitcom acquired much success since its 2014 debut and chronicles the interesting and ten comical lives an upper-middle-class Black family. The series’ star-studded cast includes Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson and Yara Shahidi amongst many others. Since its start, the show went onto receiving both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations along with a TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.
As the show has always been known to encompass and appropriately represent the complexity the black experience, its creators have since pitched on new stories to tell and experiences to share. According to Complex, ABC just gave a full season order on a prequel series called Mixed-ish. The new show is set to be the coming–age tale Tracee Eliss Ross’ character, who is mixed heritage. The show is set to be part the sixth season Black-ish before going onto becoming its own show.
The first series spinf Grown-ish, starring Shahidi, details the black experience as it relates to university. The latter has done significantly well and was also renewed for a third season. Hence, we are expecting only good things from the upcoming spinf.
