Nipsey Hussle to Be Honored with Humanitarian Award at BET Awards

The Marathon continues. Nipsey Hussle’s humanitarian work will be celebrated at the 2019 BET Awards.

The revered rapper will be posthumously honored with the Humanitarian Award during the 19th annual show. As an activist, philanthropist, and businessman, Neighborhood Nip dedicated years work to helping his South Los Angeles community, and was also a devoted son, brother, father, partner, and friend.

Additionally, DJ Khaled, YG, and John Legend will perform a tribute to the beloved MC, who is nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the awards.

“As a prolific artist and leader, Nipsey Hussle was zealous about driving change for the betterment his community, empowering and employing those in need and being an influential and highly respected leader,” said Connie Orlando, Executive Vice-President, Head Programming at BET. “We are forever grateful, humbled and honored to have experienced his presence and we are invested in doing our part to ensure that the marathon will indeed continue. It is an immense honor for us to recognize him with this year’s Humanitarian Award.”

Past Humanitarian Award recipients have included Chance the Rapper, Denzel Washington, Al Sharpton, Steve Harvey, and Dwyane Wade.

Hosted by Regina Hall, the 2019 BET Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 23, at 8 p.m. EST featuring performances from Cardi B, Migos, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lizzo, Mustard, and more.
