Daz Dillinger strikes a favorable plea deal.
Last September, in the midst a heated (though admittedly one-sided) feud with Kanye West, Daz Dillingerfound himself catching a possession charge. The rapper was found with over an ounce marijuana, as well as THC Pods and a concoction purple-tinted “Cannabis lean.” Despite the fact that he was caught with marijuana, the Dogg Pound rapper was placed in jail, and later indicted on two felony drug charges. As a result, Daz was actually looking at some hard time – up to twenty-five years, to be specific.
Now, however, it would appear some good news has befallen the former Death Row veteran. TMZ has confirmed that Daz has taken a plea deal that avoids jail time altogether. While that bodes well, Daz still walks away with three years probation, which in itself can pose further problems for rappers down the line. Alongside the probation period, Daz must also pay one thousand dollars in fines. It might have been a little worse had one the felony charges not been dismissed due to lack evidence, but for now, it looks like Daz has caught a break.
Maybe Daz oughta move to Canada, where marijuana is not only decriminalized, but legal. In any case, Daz remains in good spirits, taking to Instagram to celebrate the fact that it’s “finally ova.” One has to wonder if the days tossing people in jail over possession marijuana will ever come to an end.
