Billy Raffoul just can't get a grip in the new video for his debut single “Driver” — quite literally.
The video, premiering exclusively here on Billboard today (June 20), has the 22-year-old Canadian artist levitating to the ceiling his bedroom, grasping in vain as objects — a glass water, a lighter, a globe — float just out reach around him. It's a fitting visual for the husky, rough-hewn rock track, which begins with the lyric, “I feel like I'm floating.”
“I was a big fan comic book heroes growing up,” Raffoul tells Billboard the new video, “so it was fun to feel like Peter Parker and climb walls for a day.”
But the can't-get-a-grip video isn't so fitting for Raffoul in real life, as he seems to have a grip on just about everything. The artist recently inked a deal with Interscope, and is gearing up to drop a debut EP in August. Meanwhile, he'll release his second single, “Dark Four Door,” on July 14, and is set to support Kings Leon at their British Summer Time show in London on July 6.
Watch the dizzying video below, and scroll on for Raffoul's summer touring schedule, where he'll support fellow indie rocker Mondo Cozmo.
