The Weeknd Is ‘Mastering’ His Next Album

Can you feel it coming? After shooting a music video in Taft, Calif., The Weeknd confirms that his next release is in the mastering stage.

Taking to Instagram, the XO crooner posted six silent videos in three separate posts. Each one shows The Weeknd in the studio, singing, smoking, reading f his phone, and bobbing his head to playback. The caption for each post is “mastering.”

Abel Tesfaye unleashed his full-length debut Kiss Land in 2013 and boosted his career with the chart-topping Beauty Behind the Madness in 2015. He dropped his last album, Starboy, in 2016. It’s unclear when his next release is due.

The album could arrive in the next few weeks. The Weeknd is scheduled to headline Coachella on April 13 and 20. It’s plausible to expect a new album before then. Later this year, he will also take the stage at Lollapalooza.

Hints about the new album have also been dropping. Earlier this month, Travis Scott confirmed that it was practically done. “Abel new album is scary],” he tweeted. “It’s like when I first heard him for the first time. Fuckkkkkk !!!!!”

More recently, The Weeknd shot a video for his new single in Taft, Calif. Leaked footage shows him singing in the rain and surfing through the streets on a hoverboard.

He’s also been delivering new material. On Friday (March 23), the Puma-endorsed star joined Trouble on “Come Thru” f the latter’s Edgewood mixtape.
