Kendrick Lamar scored the cover the latest issue Rolling Stone, where he’s called the “Greatest rapper alive.”
The Compton spitter talked about everything from Bono, to Taylor Swift, to Donald Trump. The way Kendrick sees it, merely talking about how unhappy people are with the current president is useless, and he wants folks to take action instead.
“It’s like beating a dead horse,” said Kendrick. “We already know what it is. Are we gonna keep talking about it, or are we gonna take action? You just get to a point where you’re tired talking about it. It weighs you down, and it drains your energy when you’re speaking about something or someone that’s completely ridiculous.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Lamar talked about connecting with U2 and Bono for the DAMN. cut “XXX.”
“He sent it over, I laid some ideas to it and we didn’t know where it was going,” he explained. I just happened to have an album coming out, so I just asked him, like, ‘Yo, would you do me this honor letting me use this record, use this idea that I want to put together, because I’m hearing a certain type 808, a certain drum to it,’ and he was open to it.”
In other Kendrick news, he recently brought out Chance The Rapper during the Chicago leg his DAMN.Tour, plus, he’s one the rappers featured on the new Madden NFL 18 soundtrack.
