Hip Hop Album Sales: Beyoncé & JAY-Z's "EVERYTHING IS LOVE" Debuts On Billboard 200

The Carters’ joint album, EVERYTHING IS LOVE, has made its first appearance on the Billboard 200, landing at #2. Meanwhile, XXXTENTATION’s projects jumped up the chart in the wake his murder, and Nas, Christina Aguilera, and Jay Rock’s new projects all made their first appearances on the chart.

EVERYTHING IS LOVE Debuts At #2

The Carters have made their debut on the Billboard 200 this week with their joint album, EVERYTHING IS LOVE. While it still made a respectable showing at #2 — moving a total 122,870 equivalent album units (69,695 in pure album sales and a streaming count 73,239,130) — it was still kept out the top spot by Australian pop band 5 Seconds Summer.

EVERYTHING IS LOVE debuted lower than JAY-Z’s 4:44 album and Beyonce’s Lemonade album, both which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The album’s lack pre-promotion, Saturday release and brief exclusivity on TIDAL all impacted its first-week numbers — although Beyoncé already made clear how she felt about streaming numbers on the project.
