Funkmaster Flex Calls Out Cardi B for Not Writing Her Own Lyrics

Funkmaster Flex has never been one to mince his words when it comes to his giving out his opinions. Even though Cardi B's Invasion Privacy album has been well-received by fans, her detractors are still taking aim at rumors the Bronx native implementing ghostwriters. Funkmaster Flex took went on Instagram Live on Monday (April 16) to voice his displeasure with Bardi allegedly not penning her own bars.

"Cardi's consistently getting somebody else to write her shit. You know I was going to fucking go there," the Hot 97 DJ quipped with his signature Flex bombs booming in the background. "I can't stand rappers that don't write their own shit."

He added: "What did we learn today boys and girls? Write your own shit. When shit gets funny don't go on Instagram and turn your comments f and fire your management as soon as you get to the right place. I'm just keeping it a buck. This is my opinion."

During her album release party, Cardi spoke on taking and flipping "Be Careful" into her own version from Pardison Fontaine, a fellow rapper hailing from New York. The pair worked closely throughout the process crafting Invasion Privacy and he's even been credited as a songwriter on her songs. Cardi even thanked him in her acceptance speech at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

"I heard the record and was like motherfucker I want the record for me," Cardi said "Be Careful." I flipped it and made it into a girl version. I don't give a fuck ghostwriter, co-writer. Bitch, I don't give a fuck. What you need to do is ask your favorite rappers about their ghostwriters."
