Wiz Khalifa, Mozzy and Gary Clark Jr. link up for "Long Night," a turn-up anthem from from DJ Afterthought's forthcoming Cool Blue Jewels album. XXL's got the exclusive premiere.
The new track, which is entirely about partying, finds Wiz delivering the hook. "Champagne, paper planes, this gon' be a long night/Bad bitches, good weed, this gon' be long night/Bombay and lemonade, this gon' be a long night/30 girls at my place, this gon' be a long night," Wiz chants over the mesmerizing E Dan ID Labs-produced beat.
For his part, Mozzy, who also collabed with Wiz at the top last year, delves into the same sort party scene Wiz describes in the hook for the song. "I'm in the big body, big booty girl sitting by me/ Then I get a call from one these broads that say she got kids by me," the Sacramento, Calif. rapper spits, setting the scene for what sounds like a wild lifestyle.
DJ Afterthought's latest is rife with features, with one them obviously coming from Wiz. He says Taylor Gang's had his back since day one, so getting a collab from the Pittsburgh rapper was no biggie. "E Dan, Will(TGOD), and the rest Taylor Gang have always been super supportive with anything I’ve tried to do," Afterthought tells XXL how he got Wiz on the track.
He continues, "I approached them about it without any expectations and they gave me the opportunity to take a shot. Pittsburgh is a place like no other, without that city and the people that paved the way I would have nothing, so I will never take that for granted] and try to reciprocate that best I can. As for Mozzy, we had did another track previously together for the album and he crushed it. I wanted to pay homage and get him on this record as well, and he was all about it. I’m forever grateful to all the people that allow me the opportunities to be great."
Also on Cool Blue Jewels are Riff Raff, Dice Soho, Jimmy Wopo, Project Pat and Young Buck. How'd he land those features?
"Luck and the culmination years and years networking," Afterthought says. "I took a track by track approach and just tried to keep setting the bar higher and higher. Can't describe the feeling having so many extremely talented people that wanted to be a part this project."
