Just last week, Drake was celebrating his ninth week at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and it looked as if he was going to reach a tenth week at No. 1, too. Unfortunately for him, middle-aged pop punk act Blink-182 swooped in and stole the spot from him with their seventh studio album, California. Blink’s first album in five years, and first without founding member and UFO enthusiast Tom DeLonge (Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio replaced DeLonge as co-lead vocalist), California is Blink’s first No. 1 album since 2001’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket.

Debuting at No. 1 with 186,000 equivalent album units, with 172,000 of those in traditional album sales, California dethroned Views from the No. 1 spot on the chart. Also of note, the lead single from Blink’s California, “Bored to Death,” also hit No. 1 on the Alternative Songs chart, making it their first No. 1 on the chart since 2004. Views dropped down to No. 2 with 117,000 equivalent album units, an increase of 6 percent from the following week.

Drake can sleep happy knowing that he still set a chart record with Views becoming the third longest running No. 1 hip-hop album in the history of Billboard 200 album chart. It seems that Blink’s new lineup is working for them, then, especially with Tom DeLonge seemingly a little preoccupied still.
