Azealia Banks Launches $100K GoFundMe Campaign To Sue Russell Crowe

Azealia Banks has launched a GoFundMe campaign to sue actor Russell Crowe, who she says spit on her at a Las Vegas hotel in October 2016. Over the past three days, Banks has raised just over $2,000 out the $100,000 goal.

In the fundraiser’s description, the colorful Harlem rapper writes, “Russell Crowe spit on me at a party in 2016 and denied it, had a group people gaslight me causing irreparable damage to my acting career and my reputation as well as loads emotional damage.”

Banks promises to donate the money raised through the campaign to charities dedicated to cleaning up oceans.

“This isn’t about a big pay day for me, it’s about letting the world know that black women are victims to the same sort disgusting violence men in Hollywood deal out to women and it’s important to send a message that black women also deserve justice and will get justice in these situations,” she continues.

“Crowe called me a nigger, choked me, and spat on me… if I were a white singer he wouldn’t have even thought about laying a finger on me. So many things like this happen in the entertainment industry and it’s time that ALL these perpetrators get reprimanded so they STOP this violent behavior.”

Banks’ battery case against Crowe was dropped in December 2016.

According to the DA’s fice, Crowe’s actions at the time were “justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks” and that his alleged spitting was “incidental to preventing more serious threatened violence.”

Banks is readying her next album, Fantasea II, which is expected to arrive sometime this year.

Ahead its release, Banks shared a visual for “Anna Wintour.”
