Ariana Grande Performs ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ at Billboard Music Awards

Ariana Grande turned her tears upside down at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. Following an emotional introduction from Kelly Clarkson, the pop princess opened the show with the first televised performance “No Tears Left to Cry.” Lying on top umbrellas, she descended onto the stage with a big black bow in her platinum blonde hair.

Backed by her male dancers, she recreated the gravity-defying music video, dancing up and down a staircase and from wall to wall.

At the end her electrifying set, the screens flashed “The light is coming.”

Grande is now gearing up to release her new album Sweetener in July featuring production from Pharrell and Max Martin. The title was inspired by the tragic bombing outside her Manchester concert last year.

“When you’re handed a challenge,” she told TIME, “instead sitting there and complaining about it, why not try to make something beautiful?”
