50 Cent Wins Big in 'Power' Lawsuit

As a rapper, actor, and savvy business man, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is truly a jack all trades. Talent doesn’t come without its problems though. Following the success his STARZ drama series Power, 50 was accused jacking someone else’s idea and storyline for the show.

According to the recent lawsuit, 50 allegedly swiped Power‘s essence from a play entitled Dangerous, written by two men. The men claimed that Power was too similar to Dangerous to be a coincidence, as its storyline also revolved around the money laundering and violent activities a drug dealer.

50 was shocked. Fans were nervous. The case went to trial. And… Everything is fine.

Ultimately, the court tossed the case, saying drug laundering and drug dealing are common television themes. “One need only look to such shows and movies as The Wire, Empire, Breaking Bad, Narcos, Weeds, Carlito’s Way, American Gangster, New Jack City, Scarface and Paid in Full,” the judge said.
